Homeland Security
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created almost immediately after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. It was created to better secure the United States of America from any future attacks. Currently employing over 240,000 employees the Department of Homeland Security is based in Washington DC. The agencies within DHS ranges from border patrol and customs enforcement to transportation security and FEMA.
DHS has a multi billion-dollar budget that continues to increase each year. The large budget is in place to ensure that the USA has the necessary materials to keep our nation secure.
The Department of Homeland Security Act of 2002 was put in place to make the public aware of it goals. Its purpose of action is to prevent terrorist attacks on the United States. If another terrorist attack were to occur in the United States their job is to reduce the damage and aid in recovery.
